• this is undeniably the most spectacular shadow box I’ve come across in quite some time
• fabulous ornate original 1800s wood carved wood frame in gold gilt w/ acanthus leaves; shell motif
• the antique mourning jacket comprises of all hand embroidered stitches on delicate netting, velvet; lace; making up the jacket
• jacket is mounted on Moire silk
• inside neck line is velvet with antique hook and eye
• last two photos are of the rear backing of the shadow box is again, just as spectacular! Victorian children; the young boy is holding a basket of strawberries and is delightfully courting a little girl with a basket of flowers
SIDE NOTE:
rear backing is an antique FRED MORGAN PRINT CALLED SWEETHEARTS
• measures: 30”W x 25 ½” (including frame)
• don’t know if the shadow box was ever under glass as it is not now. (actually, is a good thing due to the expense in shipping for the extra weight). I am going to guess there may not have been glass because of the thickness of the jacket. Presently, there is acetate protecting the mounting but, it does have a crack in the acetate
