One of a Kind – statement maker – Papua New Guinea
this impressive ceremonial art is meant to be hung / worn around the neck as a breastplate with the knotted / crocheted strap and the horns at each side of the neck. It mimics a mask with dark brown flat type shells for eyes and larger ones for the mouth. It is adorned with colorful feathers, cowrie shells, some sort of hair, horns, woven grasses, etc. Long hairs have feathers attached to the tips … the back is again wonderfully crafted with hardened crocheted or knotted string
