The W126 chassis is hands down the best Mercedes Benz ever made. This generation of S Class is still considered the best that Mercedes has produced. Mercedes Benz stylist Bruno Sacco lent this S-class a form language that is extremely sober, yet distinguished by a surprisingly lithe stance and a roofline that, despite clearly conveying a sense of not being anything less than rock-solid, has a delightful elegance to it. These cars were over engineered and were far ahead of the time. This was the big dog, last of the real West German engineered , pinnacle of Mercedes Benz.

This vehicle was almost $70,000 brand new in 1987 and it is still the ultimate “BOSS CAR”. The Mercedes diesel engine takes this vehicle to almost a tank like longevity and ruggedness. These engines are known to cross million kilometres easily. The diesels are also known to have amazing fuel efficiency. This vehicle constantly gets around 9 litres per 100 kms or close to 26 miles per gallon. More details of the 300SDL in particular and W126 in general can be found in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWJE30mcOkA&ab_channel=MercedesClassicswithPierreHedary

This car is not your average classic car that is either too fancy to be driven on the road or too fragile to be considered reliable or needs extensive work. This is a work horse, that has been immaculately maintained by over the years. It has never been winter driven in winters, received rust protection treatments regularly and driven on long highway trips within Canada and to the US. No expense spared when it came to maintenance. All service intervals were completed on or before time, all service books stamped during the first few years and comes with all service records afterwards. Over $60,000 spent on repairs and upkeep since 2011 , all documented and all records come with the car. This car is by far the nicest and best kept diesel W126 in Canada. With the solid maintenance history, all original /immaculate condition, it will only increase in value while giving decades of trouble free motoring. It’s almost impossible to find a 1980s Mercedes diesel that does not need any mechanical work or is rust free. No sweats, no oil leaks, no rust, no malfunction lights. Gets parked in a temperature controlled garage from November to April. Never seen a Canadian winter and has no rust on the undercarriage unlike most vehicles from the 80s. Hand washed and waxed on regular basis. Relatively weaker areas of the W126 300 SDL like the transmission, cylinder head, radiator, exhaust, AC , steering box,all have already been replaced/upgraded and are fairly new. All fluids and filters are brand new. There is no pending service. All repairs documented and receipts on file.

VEHICLE’S HISTORY: The 300 SDL was bought brand new in South Carolina and was used by the original owner as his summer vehicle. South Carolina vehicles do not get rust anyways as they don’t use salt on their roads. Vehicle was diligently maintained at Mercedes Benz dealerships and the service booklet was stamped regularly (Comes with the vehicle) Vehicle was bought by the second owner (a senior colleague of mine) in 2011 and was legally imported into Canada (All paperwork from the ad listing to the import documents to the inspection reports are on file and will go with the vehicle. The vehicle went through a number of very expensive upgrades/ maintenance items just after the import. It was also repainted in 2011 to freshen up the look. The paint shows very well and still shines thanks to the time in the garage when not in use and regular waxing. I purchased the vehicle from the second owner in 2019 , gave it a thorough tune up, did all the maintenance proactively and did a number of pre emptive maintenance items. All paperwork for all maintenance items /upgrades is on file and will go with the vehicle. Like the previous owners , I have parked it in a garage away from the elements and harsh climate. It was never winter driven and it shows. I did buy a set of period correct W126 Mercedes rims with winter tires but never went ahead and installed them on the car. They will also come with the car.
