Description

Unfortunately, with much sadness, I'm putting up my beloved 1984 928s up for sale. I bought the car when I was 16 in chemistry class (I promise I'm a good kid), & then proceeded to turn what used to be an unloved 928, into a well loved one. While it may look a bit like a dog, I've gone through the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure it is mechanically & electrically solid during my ownership. This includes timing belt, water pump, top end reseal, rebuilt alternator, refreshed cooling system, clutch, engine mounts + oil pan seal, new power steering lines, fresh fluids, and fixing a whole host of electrical issues. As a result, over the course of the 6-7 years I've owned the car, it has been the most disgustingly reliable car in my family. I've driven it to Toronto & Montreal on multiple occasions & have used it as my summer daily driver for the better of 6 years. It has never left me stranded, or let me down once & I've accumulated roughly 40,000km on it. The interior is in "solid" shape as well. Minimal sun damage & nobody has messed with it (critical for 928s). It's definitely well worn, but the sail panels are only slightly warped & the headliner is ok. Seats are well worn, but aren't destroyed. Cosmetically, the car definitely needs work. A perfect example of a "10 footer" front bumper & front left fender need to be replaced because of people backing into me, roof is sundamaged due to cheaper respray in the past (prior to my ownership), and paint is generally tired & worn. To me, I'm not really bothered about it, just means I can drive it more often & not worry about the car too much. The way I see it, it's either a fantastic driver, or a perfect candidate for restoration.

Asking $9,000. Just want to see it go to a good home. My one stipulation to the sale of the car is: I get first dibs to buy it back if you decide to sell it. Common 928 questions Timing belt & waterpump: Done 4 years ago. Should be good for 7 Gearbox: works well. Doesn't pop out of gear & doesn't grind. Clutch was replaced 5 years ago. Electrics: completely original & haven't been messed with. Sunroof & hvac don't work, everything else is good. Wiring for radio isn't to my standard, but not terrible. It was done by the previous owner. Guages: speedo & fuel guage are temperamental. I think it can be temporarily fixed, but plastic foil would need replacing. Spare parts: my parts stash is pretty sizable. Would need to do a full inventory, but they includes lots of spare trim pieces, and a collection of new parts as well. They're included in the sale of the car. Sorry for the long write up, just want to be thorough.
