Here at Teddy Bear babies! We believe small breed puppies shouldn’t leave our home right at 8 weeks of age because they need extra time to develop both physically and emotionally. Small breeds are more delicate than larger breeds and benefit greatly from additional time with their mother and littermates to mature, socialize, and learn essential skills. Leaving too early can lead to challenges such as difficulty adapting to new environments and poor socialization.
By waiting until at least 9-10 weeks of age, we ensure they have the best start in life. Even at 12-16 weeks, small breed puppies are still very much babies and adapt beautifully to their new families and homes. Plus, they’ll need fewer potty breaks and are more likely to sleep through the night, making the transition smoother for everyone. Giving our puppies this extra time helps them thrive and sets them up for happy, healthy lives with their new families. ❤️
