Up for sale is my 2010 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 in excellent condition.
This is one of the finest Martin acoustics you are likely to find, and one strum will tell you why it’s one of the most popular models in the “top of the line” Authentic series. This example is pre-VTS and has no roasting, baking or other cooking, just like they made them in the old days. The guitar has an Adirondack top, Honduran Mahogany back and sides, Ebony Fretboard and bridge, with a Brazilian rosewood headplate overlay. This guitar is from the first series of 1937 D-18 Authentics, made between 2005-2012 when Martin’s Custom shop was still exceptional. It has opened nicely over the years and is as close as you’ll get to playing an original D-18 made in 1937.
Excellent condition, plays great, with no issues. It’s hard to find one of these used, so here’s your chance to own one of the finest dreadnoughts made by Martin at a significant saving. It has been played lightly at home, and therefore exhibits some very light wear if you inspect it through a magnifying glass. It has been gently handled and has always been stored in a properly humidified studio. The pictures tell the story but playing it reveals how a dreadnought must have sounded in 1937. It has perfect intonation throughout the fretboard and the action is as nice as I’ve played in an acoustic.
Please note I’m selling this to fund another purchase and am not interested in trades. The guitar is located in my home near London, but I can also meet in Kitchener for a firm sale as I’m there frequently.
