Fender Japan Squier ST-331 stratocaster in Torino Red. Made at the Fuji-gen plant, A serial (1985-1986). Some scratches, dings, and other blemishes, as to be expected from a 39 year old guitar, See the photos for more details. Fretboard and neck are great, very playable, some fret wear but loads of life left in the frets. Electrics - simple as they are - all working. Spec - as per Fender Japan 1985 catalog: Body - Basswood Neck - Maple, one piece Nut - Carbon Fretboard - 21F Pickup - Seymour Duncan JB?? Controls - 1 volume Colour- Fender Japan Squier ST-331 stratocaster in Torino Red Gibson scale length 24.75” the input jack, saddles, bridge, block, volume pot and knob are original, the pick guard is a replacement, and fits ok needed some extra holes drilled to install and is a bit off on the treble side of the bridge, also cut for a single coil size pickup, its also cracked around the screw next to the output jack. Bottom strap button was moved. There are scratches, dents, chips and dings all over this body. The body is made of Basswood Squier instruments from the same time period had a few models that were more way out there, including the ST-331 Stratocaster that we are looking at today. This Squier by Fender Stratocaster was built at the revered Fujigen factory in 1985 and it caries an A-prefix serial number. Deviations from the vintage norm include a sinister black appearance, complete with a matching headstock, a single humbucking pickup and a lone control knob. Metal! The neck has a nice chunk of rosewood for the fretboard, and there are 21 frets and a plastic nut set into it. The frets show some wear mainly in the cowboy cord area, see photos but lots of life left, but are in amazingly good shape for a 39 year-old guitar neck, the headstock is painted black and there are 1970s style closed-back tuners installed. The back of the neck has a comfy oval profile to it and it feels just a little different than other Strats because this instrument has a shorter scale than normal: 24.75” (Gibson scale Length) instead of the normal Fender 25.5”
