Description

Thank you for replying to my kijiji ad.

I am accepting up to three new students, (I have 20 presently), whether they are adults, adolescents and/or children (accompanied by adults) in 2025.

PLEASE take the time to read the whole ad before responding. It will take just a few minutes!

My name is Bob Jennings. I work both as a composer and piano/theory teacher. In the last twenty years, adults, adolescents, and children have been taking weekly lessons from me. (Presently my oldest student, who is in his late eighties, started with me only five years ago!)

I live in downtown Toronto, in a condo, two blocks from the St. Lawrence Market (which is located at the intersection of Front and Jarvis Streets) One can easily get to my building by walking, or by either taking the Queen or King streetcars. Also, for those driving, there is limited street parking. Some of my students take lessons on weekdays and weekends, afternoons or evenings. Some students coming to me are beginners; others took music lessons in their youth. I teach all kinds of piano/music lessons; classical, improvisational, and popular.

Some students study music theory with me as well. Almost all adults prefer learning at their own pace, enjoying the process, without formal exams. My students come to my home once weekly - (I am double vaccinated and also triple boosted).

I appreciate students that come each and every week, consistently. If I do not receive 24 hours notice, students pay for lessons they were absent.

My latest musical compositions can be heard both on Spotify and on iTunes. I am listed under “Robert Jennings Curiosity Album” (which came out un May) “Robert Jennings Inner Sanctuary Album" and “Robert Jennings Rendezvous Album". “Curiosity” and “Rendezvous” are solo piano works.“Inner Sanctuary” is an orchestral work.

My background? I have an Honours Bachelor of Music from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Education (Music Vocal) from the University of Western Ontario. For several years I was a schoolteacher for the Toronto District School Board. I am now thoroughly enjoying early retirement.

I have been one of the lucky few who can play by ear as well as from the written score. Sometimes I am hired to play the piano for parties and other events. However, composing and teaching are my greatest passions.

Most of my students choose to have weekly 45 - minute lessons for $ 37.50 (each) Almost all students pay me by e-transfer.

Coming at the same time and day, weekly is appreciated. Students are expected to come once weekly. I do not recommend students coming every two weeks. It just doesn't work out. I am flexible - to a point - with make-up lessons, when I am treated as a professional, an instructor whose time matters. Constant no shows are of no interest/value to me.
