Wanted: Needed boarding for Kitties - must love kitties
Description
MUST LOVE KITTIES
Hello. I am 73 with numerous ailments, including spinal stenosis recently diagnosed, and I am waiting for an operation, but if it takes too long, I have been told I could become paralyzed from the waist down! Every day is a waiting game, waiting for the operation and whether I will be able to continue caring for my 6 kitties.
All my kitties have been with me since birth, with the exception of one who is only 2 years old. The other 5 are between 12 and 15 years old. They are the mother cat, Midgie, and her 4 remaining offspring.
All of my kitties have been allowed both indoors and outdoors. With the exception of one, Evie, they all religiously use the litters and are very clean. I leave a sliding door open all day long for Evie so she can go out to the bathroom, but have to put her outside at night when I go to bed. I don't know why, but she suddenly recently stopped using the litters?
We are a family, the kitties and I, and have been together for their entire lives. They have formed strong bonds together and with me, and I would like them to have a safe place to go together if something ever happens to me if I either can't care for them or if I, God forbid, die.
We have always lived in safe places away from traffic and noise, well within nature and very quiet. They would need the same kind of new home, should anything happen to me.
I have an outdoor enclosed porch for them here with an electric heater and heating pads in several of their beds so that if they choose to go out, they will always be warm and dry. Some choose to stay out at night and some choose to stay in. They all seem to have happy spots where they nestle inside during the day.
They are also all very cuddly, each spending time every day on my lap for reassurance and love, or laying beside me on our couch, and I would hope that whoever takes them on would be able to provide that kind of love and affection to them.
Most of them are Hemingways, having 6 or more toes on each paw, and they are intelligent and seem to understand what I tell them easily.
One kitty, Tinkerbell, has hyperthyroid and asthma as well. She requires a dab of medicine in her ears twice a day (costs about $50/mo.) and has other medication for her asthma but she often refuses it. I give her cbd oil several times a day to help her withstand her conditions. She is the only one I give vet recommended meds to.
I also put liquid vitamin B on Tinky's fur and her mother Midge. Midge is slowing down and seems to need a little boost these days to get up and go and the vit B helps her.
The youngest is Gino who is a black siamese whom I acquired at 8 weeks old. He's an easy going fella and fits in with the family well. When I lost my 20 year old kitty, Silky, a couple of years ago I was stricken and got Gino to fill the giant hole she left in my heart. He's very independent and somewhat teasing with the other cats, but all in good spirits and no real aggression.
So I need someone to step in and take over my little charges should anything adverse happen to me. Once I have the operation and get over it, I should be fine to continue mothering my babies, but in case the worst happens, I need to know where and to whom they will go if I cannot continue to care for them.
I have arranged for someone to stay here with them when I have the operation and for a few days when I come back, but if I lose control of my legs in the meantime, I must have someone to either come over and help me with them here, or take them to their safe place while I recover.
I would prefer, of course, should I lose control of my mobility, that someone would come in and help me with the chores and litters, etc., than shipping them all elsewhere, so perhaps someting could be worked out in the interim.
It's a difficult time for me and I'm hoping a good person will come forward to help us out and/or, if necessary, provide a new, safe, country home for them all while I convalesce.
Life is full of surprises and this latest spinal stenosis prognosis was completely unexpected. I must now make provision for the continued safety and happiness of all my babies.
Trusting there's someone out there who loves kitties, has a natural country environment away from traffic and lots of love to give them, I await replies.
Regards and take care, Shar
PS: I currently live in Bowser on Vancouver Island, just 20 mins north of Qualicum.
